Essential Grid demo content doesn't import properly

If you followed our tutorial about how to import and setup Essential Grid and after you import the JSON file nothing is imported, most probably the problem is the old version of the PHP.

The Essential Grid import feature requires PHP version to be >= 5.4.

The solution is very simple: please contact your server provider and ask them if they can update your server to use PHP version 5.4 or later.

PHP 5.3 is more than 5 years old already. If your hosting provider doesn't want to update their PHP version or does not provide PHP >= 5.4, please do yourself a favor and change the hosting provider. We can recommend Bluehost, they are also officially recommended by WordPress.

PHP 5.4 has lots of improvements over the PHP 5.3, including speed, performance and stability. So there are really no good reasons you would stick with 5 years old technology.

On our demo servers we use PHP 5.6 and (cutting edge) HHVM by Facebook.

    Is there any alternative method?
I wouldnt mind doing manually, for this project it is not possible to switch providers.

    Hi,

We are not the experts, since we didn't create the Ess. Grid plugin, so I am not sure if there is alternative. I will ask now the ThemePunch team what the suggest.

    Here is their official answer:

    Hi Primoz,

The built-in import feature is the only way a slider can be imported unfortunately.

    HI There,

I saw this and I'm facing the same issue. I am using Bluehost as WP recommends but i upload Ess grid Json file and it shows as successful but then i am unable to see any grids.

Would you be able to suggest anything here?

    Thanks,

    Hi Geet,

Maybe I can suggest you contact the bluehost and ask them to confirm that your server is on PHP 5.4. Sometimes shared hostings have settings for different versions of PHP.

Thanks Primoz. I did check with them and they confirmed I'm running 5.4. Not sure why this issue exists now?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
